Margarita, known lovingly to all of us as Nana, was more than a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife. She was a part of the heart of our family. Her presence brought comfort, her strength carried us through difficult times, and her love made our family feel like home.
Nana was a strong and courageous woman who loved deeply and gave generously. She had a way of making the people around her feel cared for, whether it was through a kind word, a helping hand, a family gathering, or simply being there when we needed her. She gave so much of herself to the people she loved and never stopped being someone her family could count on.
Some of the sweetest memories of Nana are found in the simple moments—the flowers she loved, the laughter around the table during family gatherings, and the card games that brought everyone together. These are the moments we will hold onto. They may seem small, but they are the memories that become priceless when someone we love is no longer with us.
Nana’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her children, Mari and Ivan; her grandchildren, Alexander, Erica, Alexandra, Andréa, and Sarah; and her great-grandchildren, Lukas and Amiyah. She also leaves behind her twin step-sons, Tomas and Terry, as well as many other relatives and friends whose lives were made better simply because she was in them.
And while our hearts are broken by losing her, we find comfort in knowing that Nana is no longer hurting or struggling. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Abu, the person she loved and missed so deeply.
We will miss her voice. We will miss her stories. We will miss seeing her, sitting with her, laughing with her, and sharing the everyday moments that we once took for granted. Most of all, we will miss the feeling of having Nana with us.
But her love doesn’t leave with her.
It lives on in her children, in her grandchildren, in her great-grandchildren, and in every memory she gave us. It lives on in the traditions she created, the lessons she taught us, and the love she poured into our family.
Nana, thank you for loving us, for being strong for us, and for giving us so many memories to carry with us. We hope you knew just how deeply you were loved.
Until we meet again, Nana. Give Abu a hug for us.
You will forever be a part of our family, forever missed, and forever loved.
Rest peacefully, Nana. We love you more than words could ever say.
