

Mary was born on August 30, 1923, in Lincoln, NE to Clarence Gillespie Miles and Elsie Clarissa Ziese Miles. She grew up in Bethany, graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940 and from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, in 1944.
She was wed to Robert Edward Henderson, also of Lincoln, on July 16, 1944, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They returned to Lincoln in 1946 where Mary was busy as a homemaker and mother to their growing family. Mary was always fun-loving and full of spirit and these qualities gained her many wonderful and admiring friends. She led them and her children on many a madcap adventure. She saw fun and humor in everything.
Mary was also a very gifted artist who was equally adept at graphite, pastel, oil, acrylics and watercolor. She made many artistic contributions to the community over her lifetime and enjoyed her studio at the Haymarket for many years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Reveler’s Dance Club and volunteered untold numbers of hours using her artistic skills to make a success of the many projects she was asked to help with.
In 1978, Bob and Mary moved to Fairhope, AL to make their home on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. There, Mary enjoyed the beaches and bayous, sailing with Bob and friends on the intra-coastal waterways and working in her large studio where she continued to produce an impressive body of artwork. These works can be found today in the homes and offices of countless numbers of collectors, family, and friends.
In December, 2010, Mary moved to Orlando, where she resided at the home of her daughter, Nancy Caskey, until the time of her death.
Mary is survived by her four children, Jon Anne Einspahr (Ron) of Brookings, SD, Miles Henderson (Pat) of Sheboygan, WI, Nancy Caskey of Orlando, FL and Mary Adele Henderson (Robert Hirsch) of Buffalo, NY; two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Henderson Kuespert of West Chester, PA and Laura Haverstock Miles of Wayzata, MN; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her brothers Richard S. and James G. Miles, and sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Latsch Miles, and Lois Henderson.
Following cremation, inurnment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lincoln, NE on a date yet to be announced. For condolences and final placement information please visit www.dignitymemorial.com. The family suggests that memorials be sent to an entity which promotes the fine arts.
