To the family of my dear friend in faith Marjorie Young,  

Thank you for the opportunity to support you all and for becoming a friend of the family.  She is missed daily and continues to live on in our hearts.

I created  the floral arrangements at the SGI-USA in NYC . Ms. Young always was supportive and encouraging. She was a true pioneer member. She was always there supporting the members. Unfortunately, I was not able to say good bye when she left. She willl  ALWAYS be remembered as a dedicated BUDDHIST to the practice! WELL DONE THY FAITHFUL SERVANT . NAM MYOHO RENGE KYO

I met Ms. Young  when I first joined the SGI.  She was one of the people I have to say was instrumental in my practice.  She was always at the culture centre to offer guidance, encouragement or a stern rebuke if she caught me doing something not right.   She will be missed but she showed me how to be a caring Human being.   I remember seeing her on the train late and would watch how ppl would protect her. Complete strangers.  She really had no fear.  She was an incredible woman.  

     Ms. Young, you are beloved and a dynamo for world peace. I will never forget you.

Mrs Young one of the pioneers of Kosen Rufu.  I will forever be grateful for her guidance and, her example of what it truly meant to be the greatest type of human being.   Her smile and, her life will forever live in my heart!  

Mrs. Marjorie Young has a very special place in my heart.She was a feisty, spirited, down to earth no nonsense senior in our SGI Buddhist practice with lots of heart and the passion to help others become healthier, happier and wealthier who took me under wing from the early 1970’s on so I could learn from her. . She believed in chanting and taking action. There were the overnight daimoku tosos at her house, which led to many breakthroughs for us; there was the time she asked me to represent the medical division for a couple of hours while construction was going on to renovate a building in BeeBee St. in queens that became an SGI community center for us back in the day. “I’m not a nurse I said, what if there’s an accident ? “ She said, chant there are no accidents. The sounds of the drilling and sawing scared me and I kept chanting , no accidents ! 5 hours later a relief person showed up and I left. There were no accidents. Another time we visited a friend in the hospital who was close to dying. Into the hospital room we started to go, but saw Orthodox Jewish men praying. Mrs. Young said “excuse me, Excuse me, Excuse me” A path opened up and in we went. Mrs. Young looked at the lady in the hospital bed  and chanted strongly, many Nam Myoho Renge Kyo and then we did gongyo. The group of men had left, somewhere along the way. The lady later told us she was slipping away and the sound of the daimoku brought her back. Mrs. Young showed us a way to tackle our problems, and we were never to give up. She wanted us to become strong and happy. Where money is concerned she said, “Money is out there in the universe. Chant for it to stick to you.” After a handful of years we went in different directions but always checked in with each other for a good number of years afterwards. She was like a mom to us as Lennox and others gave said, one who took us by the hand so to speak, and showed us the way forward .

I’m so grateful to have met  such wonderful person as Ms. Young, in my early stages of this practice, and the years ahead that succeeded.

She brought so much hope in me when I was still struggling with such issues back then. I do have a few and fond memories of Ms. Young, but the  one that shook me the most, it was one day that I decided to get guidance from her, and I got so excited to be seen and to listen to her guidance that I kept talking in the middle of the guidance out of so much excitement and she repeatedly kept saying to me: “Shut your lip, shut your lip.” and from that moment on, I began to realize that I had this bad habit of always interrupting when people we’re talking.

So from that day on, I began to chant about  to be more of a listener than a talker, and as the days progressed,  those cute, and sweet words of Ms. Young began to haunt me with a lot of joy, and to never forget to famous words to me, “shut your lips , shut your lips” when someone was talking to you.

Another great memory:  She said: "When I die I want NO money to be spent on my death; rather, let the youth division dance over my grave and build a human pyramid!"

Warm memories of Ms Young throughout many campaigns. Always encouraging and caring. Take your rest and return to fight again for the peace and dignity of all.

Dear Mrs. Young,

I can still hear your warm and SUNSHINE filled voice "GOOD MORNING" or "HOW ARE YOU" or "KEEP CHANTING"! Your smile very "real" kind and sincere STILL warms my heart. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for always encouraging me and many of the youth division /members of that era. You are a true leader among leaders - always giving and ALWAYS CARING. Thank you, thank you, and thank you. I am sure you will be reborn quickly in the best circumstances. We will joyfully meet again to fight together with Sensei - for World Peace.

Thanks Ms Young For always being so encouraging. I will never forget going to Kosen Rufu  gongyo, and seeing your bright face at the door handing out flyers with President Ikedas guidance and reminding us to always believe in ourselves, and the power of Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, Thank you for everything that you did for us over the many many years you will be sorely missed.

Majororie Young .  I knew her as Mrs Young. A dynamo......all heart.... strict and funny too. There are no words to describe a person this wonderful.   A treasure........ 

I always found Ms. Young’s warm voice and kind smile so encouraging. She made me want to continue practicing SGI Nichiren Buddhism throughout my life and never give up or doubt the power of the practice or the Gohonzon. I feel so honored to have known her and hope we meet again in a future lifetime. Prayers...

I have such wonderful memories if Ms. Young's strict yet warm encourage ment to never stop practicing Buddhism or stop dedicating myself to helping others overcome their problems with faith and to become happy. She said it was such a privilege to be able to support others when they faced hardships. She was a precious pioneer of Kosen Rufu in the US.

Miss Young helped me so much to do my family human revolution. She would visit anyone anywhere with you. She was such a joy to be with. I remember one of the hottest days of the summer when everyone was dripping with sweat and Miss Young arrived and announced “it’s so nice and warm outside”. Always a positive attitude. Never complained about age and if she had an ache or a pain you never knew it. She thoroughly enjoyed life and was always ready to share her joy with you. A true inspiration to all of us. You will be forever in my thoughts and prayers.

She was so incredible! Her spirit to encourage people and share SGI Buddhism was unique! Once when someone who was checking out Buddhism came to a gathering and questioned the donation of money she shouted: "My attitude is TAKE MY MONEY!!! That's how I create great good fortune so that when I die, they can put my name on a building, and I will wake up reborn in Hawaii and we will have the most beautiful culture center!!!
Another time, she had thousands of intro pamphlets copied, and she brought me and another youth to Madison Square Garden because Tina Turner was inside giving a concert. She stationed us outside the exit doors so that when the 20,000 audience members came out after the concert we could hand them the pamphlets, and she was screaming: "THIS IS WHAT SHE DOES! 


After moving to NJ from Manhattan, I didn’t see Mrs Young  that often . But every time I did, she would let me know that she would never forget me, and I should never forget her. How could ever forget your kindness and loving encouragement during hard times Mrs Young?!!

Ms. Young was a warm loving WD member always on the go, thinking about how she can help others. Always there to lend a hand be it handing out Sensei's guidance after the monthly World Peace Prayer meetings, being an extra pair of eyes for Gojokai or giving strict heartfelt guidance. Ms Young gave of herself selflessly and you didn'thave to ask. She was an undeniable force who embodied her last name and will always be remembered as Forever Young.

     I remember you as an extremely compassionate nurse that also employed the strategy of the Lotus Sutra to help others overcome deep sufferings.
     Your beautiful smile and upbeat spirit will surely always accompany you.

My deepest condolences to Marjorie Joyce Young’s family.  Marjorie was “Simply The Best” to give me great guidance when I was a new SGI Buddhist member at the New York Culture Center.  Always wise words with lots of wisdom behind them.  Marjorie will be back soon to start another or even greater  journey for world peace. My family and I offer to the Young family our deepest condolences on the passing of our SGI-USA  friend,  known to us as Mrs. Ricardo.  Her smile was genuine as were her kind and encouraging words.  I have known since I started the practice in 1984.  Peace and love to all. 

Marjorie Young was a constant source of encouragement and compassion during the time I knew her in New York during the 1980s and 90s. She was slight in build but strong in her commitment to helping people become happy. She was an SGI leader that set the example of contributing to society be it helping hundreds through first aid efforts or one person with common sense advice.

I trust she will continue bringing joy to those of us who worked alongside her and have the fondest of memories. I am sad that she has passed but am proud to have known her.

Dear Mrs. Young,
As a young woman beginning my Buddhist practice in 1986, you were an ever present figure....every activity, taking care of us in the youth division with the First Aid Group.....always sharing Sensei's and Nichiren Daishonin's guidance after every Kosen Rufu Gongyo or other activities at our New York Community Center .   
I am sure there were times that you may  have been tired or  upset, however I always saw you with a smile , always encouraging the members. 
I know that it may not have seem that we appreciated your efforts and so I say here now....
For ever thing that you did to support everyone of us THANK YOU!!

Miss Young led the First Aid Group of the SGI Buddhist organization for many years. I am a nurse and worked with her for many years , supporting the many activities of SGI . Our mission was to create a safe environment. Based on Faith and Care. Through this activity and the continuous support of Miss Young, i deepened my faith and my life blossomed,

Deepest heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Ms Young.  I have so many fond memories, together with Ms. Young in New York City, striving for the peace and happiness of all humanity.  

When I lived in NY in the 70's and 80's,  Marjorie was my  SGI women's leader. She instilled so much vision for the future of our SGI organization, especially in Brooklyn,  as well as my own life.
