Michael James Egan, age 32, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 after a valiant struggle with illness. Michael lived his life in Central Florida, attending St. James Cathedral School, Howard Middle School and Edgewater High School. He studied at Valencia State College and the University of Florida, and had recently enrolled in University of Central Florida to pursue his love of mathematics. He was a self-taught musician and linguist, fluent and proficient in several languages, but particularly passionate about French. He enjoyed music, chess, bike riding, theoretical mathematics and philosophy. He loved poker and was a great player. But above all, he loved golf. He was an avid observer of humanity. He accepted people as they were and was uncommonly generous. His family and friends knew him to be quick-witted, kind, creative, smart and funny, someone capable of seeing the humor in life hidden to most of us. He was a humble and loving man. He was unconditional in his love of his family and close friends. His passing is a loss to those who knew and loved him, and he will live on in their memories. Michael is survived by his parents, Linda and Joseph Egan; two sisters, Nancy Elizabeth Egan of Argentina and Mary Margaret Egan of Oregon; two brothers-in-law, Mario Rene Orantes and Pablo Jose Cruz; two nephews, Seamus and Aidan; and many more cousins, uncles, aunts and friends. A visitation service will be held in his honor on Monday, February 9, between 6 and 8:30 pm at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home at 301 NE Ivanhoe Blvd, Orlando, Florida. At 7 pm the service will include a sharing of words and thoughts in memory of our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. On Tuesday, February 10, at 10 am, a funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Cathedral at 215 North Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando. All who knew and loved Michael Egan are welcome to come and share in these memorials for him. His remains will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
