She was born in Clearwater, FL on August 13, 1962. Mindi earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Central Florida. Mindi had a lifelong career with Orange County Public Schools, dedicating over 41 years of her life to education.
She was married to Raymond Smith Sr. for 30 years. She was preceeded in death by her step-daughter Shannon, parents Fred & Beverly Doll, and her sister Kelly. Mindi is survived by her husband, Raymond, son Scott and daughter in law Erica, son Ray, grandchildren Keegan, Maiya, Tori, Gavin, Lucas Waligura and his wife Victoria, and Madison Waligura.
In her final moments, her loved ones gathered at her side, filling the room not with sorrow, but with love. They shared their favorite memories of Mindi, laughed through tears, reminisced about the beautiful life she lived, and reminded her of the immeasurable joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
As the time came to say goodbye, Ray lovingly held her close. He prayed the Lord’s Prayer over her, sang to her with a heart full of love, and gently told her she had always been his angel. He assured her it was time to let go, to spread her wings, and to fly with those who had gone before her.
With one final peaceful breath, Mindi left this world and entered the loving embrace of her Heavenly Father. Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is whole again, free from pain, and surrounded by eternal peace and love.
Mindi’s legacy is one of kindness, laughter, unwavering love, and a heart that touched countless lives. She leaves behind a family forever changed by her love and forever grateful for each moment they shared with her.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 - 7:30pm on Wednesday, August 5th, at Baldwin Fairfield Funeral Home, 1413 South Semoran Blvd, Orlando, FL 32807.
Mass will be held on Thursday, August 6th at 12:30pm at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 5873 North Dean Road, Orlando, FL 32817 with burial immediately afterwards at Highland Memory Gardens, 3329 East Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL 32703.
