Nathan Clifton Davis, 84 passed away peacefully at his home August 15, 2013.Nathan was born in Clarkstown, Jamaica, West Indies to Alice Davis and Charles Leonard Blake. Nathan was married to Selvetine Davis (nee Gordon) on March 13, 1954. They were married 59 years. That union started a worldwide adventure that took them first to Sheffield, England, Ontario, Canada and then a peaceful retirement to Orlando, Florida. Nathan loved new adventures with travel being a life time passion.
Nathan grew up in a large family of 4 brothers and 6 sisters. He often told us stories of the hard times, but always included the good times and those were numerous and he always had a funny story to tell. His laugh was one of a kind. He spoke often the much fulfilled life he was fortunate to have.
Nathan enjoyed a distinguished career as a Welder with the Local 128 Boilermaker’s Union retiring in 1994. His skill and attention to detail made him a mentor, teacher and very valued after employee. He did not stay retired long after moving to Orlando he found a new career in 1999 as a sales associate in the Hardware department with Wal-Mart. Not one to just sit around he also worked part-time at SeaWorld Orlando and had retired in 2012 after 10 years. He took a real joy in being a valued employee once again in his golden years. As with every endeavor in his life he took joy and passion in his work and in his devoted service to Jehovah God. He loved to encourage all by his example of the rewards of hard work.
He again took the lead when he found the truth and became a Jehovah’s Witness in 1969.Nathan and Selvetine were both dedicated active members of the Sand lake congregation for the last twenty years and even auxiliary pioneered as recently March 2013. Nathan loved Jehovah and had the hope of the resurrection in his heart. He took an active interest in the congregation’s youth. He always remembered them all by name and greeted them with a smile. Nathan’s many passions included Country music and could often be heard humming or whistling a catchy tune that would stick in your head and your heart. He was just joyful.
