

Neil E. Prince, 85, of Orlando (originally of Detroit) passed away peacefully on December 28, 2015, with his devoted wife, Margery, by his side. He was the son of the late W. Neil and Genevieve Prince. Neil attended the U.S. Naval Academy (Class of 1952), and served his country in the Air Force for 30 years, retiring at the rank of Colonel. He had a varied and accomplished military career as a civil engineer in Vietnam and locations from Greenland to Panama, being awarded the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star.After his military retirement, he taught mathematics (his passion) at Valencia College. When not in the classroom he was on the golf course (his other passion). He especially enjoyed sharing the game with his son, sons-in-law, and grandsons! Neil is preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara, son Patrick, and granddaughter Alison. Left to cherish his memory is his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Margery, wife of 64 years. Also, daughter Maureen Kirsteatter (Gary) of Yorktown, VA; daughter Mary Deano (Sal Aprile) of Orlando; son Timothy Prince (Maureen) of Ashburn, VA; and Martha Heffernan (Dave) of Orlando. His sharp wit and keen sense of humor will be missed by seven beloved grandchildren: Kelly Favret (Derek), Jessica Jackson (Michael), Shannon Glaws (Peter), Sean Prince, and Erin, Katie, and Patrick Heffernan; two great-grandsons, Colin Favret and Timothy Glaws, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to sincerely thank Senior Helpers of Orlando and their wonderful caregiving team. We are so grateful for your compassionate and kind care and to have had you on this journey with us. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Orlando with interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central and North Florida. Take God’s hand and rest in peace.
