

Norman “Lester” Beane, 89 passed from this life on Friday, March 11, 2011. Born in January 26, 1922 in Tallahassee, Fl to Eugene “Papa” and Lizzie “Maw Beane” Hawk Beane. Lester is survived by Marjorie Bartlett Beane, his wife of 62 years, his son Bruce Beane and his wife Linda of Debary , daughter Carol Shatley of Orlando, three granddaughters, Leeann Shatley of Wisconsin, Jennifer Ryall of Alabama, Heather Keith and her husband Courtland of California, his sister Ethel Kemp of Tallahassee, FL, nephews Joe Brandt and his wife Hazel of Anderson, South Carolina, Bo Beane and his wife Carol of Tennessee, nieces Martha Parker of Tallahassee, FL, Nancy Story (Chip), of Augusta, GA, sister in laws Annette Lee of Tallahassee, FL, Hazel Bartlett of Brunswick, Georgia, brother in law Dozier Bartlett of Carrabelle, Fl and numerous loving extended family and friends.Lester was a kind and loving man, always a friendly word to anyone he spoke with. Lester was honest, hardworking, and patient and loved his family, and he taught his children these same valuable lessons. Lester always liked to talk about his life in Tallahassee as a young boy. His favorite tale was about putting in water lines to his mother’s home on Hwy 90 so she would have indoor plumbing before he left for the service. Another favorite was how his mother told him he was not going anywhere until he finished high school and received a diploma. She told him at least one of her children was going to finish high school. Lester and Margie loved to travel with Margie’s sisters and brother-in-laws. Just about every year you would find the six of them together seeing the sights. Lester served in the US Navy during WW2 aboard the USS Alcor as a radio operator. After his discharge for the Navy, Lester returned to Tallahassee, where he meet and married his loving wife Marjorie Bartlett Beane on March 12, 1949. Marjorie & Lester moved to Orlando, Fl in 1952. Lester was a salesman in the lumber business for many years. He worked for Ro-Mac Lumber in Tallahassee, Mac-Don Lumber in Orlando, Robbins Manufacturing in Lockhart and FLM Lumber in Orlando where he retired. Lester was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #207 for 40 years, and a member of Delaney Street Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 5430 NW 33rd Avenue, Suite 106, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33309. Visitation will be Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 11am to Noon with a funeral service to follow at noon at Carey Hand Colonial F.H. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL
