

Raymond Kenley was born on Nov. 11, 1918 in Charlotte, N.C. He passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. He was married to Virginia Flowe (deceased) for 65 years. Raymond served in The U.S. Army in WWII, mainly in the vicinity of New Guinea, Australia, the Philippines, and other parts of the Pacific. It was when transporting between these islands an enemy aircraft crashed into his ship. He was severely wounded and nearly died. After a three day voyage on a hospital ship and a lengthy recovery in a hospital in the Philippines, he was able to rejoin his unit. He always felt the he owed his life to his fellow soldiers. Some of his favorite things were sports, especially baseball, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his son David Kenley (Carol) and daughter Beth Elliot (Mark) both of Orlando. Raymond is also survived by his five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He was predeceased by one son, Joe Kenley and his oldest granddaughter Lisa Kenley Hardman. The family requests no flowers. There will be a graveside service held on December 18, 2013 at 11:00AM at Greenwood Cemetery. He will be missed.
