Richard A. Sciglimpaglia, age 77, formerly of Stamford, Connecticut and Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026 in Orlando, Florida. Richard “Chubbo” was born on March 29, 1949, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Mary and Louis Sciglimpaglia. He grew up in a close-knit, vibrant household alongside his brothers Louis, Edward (“Butchie”) and Victor (“Chick”) on the south side of town, establishing deep roots in the Stamford community.
Richard graduated from Rippowam High School and worked as a plumber for most of his life. A devoted husband, Richard shared 36 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Beverly, of Darien, who predeceased him in June 2020.
He approached his life with humor, determination and integrity, always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, and family whenever they needed him. He especially loved working outside, beautifying his yard, and caring for the many pets he adopted along the way.
Richard's legacy lives on through his son, Richard Sciglimpaglia II, his beloved stepchildren, Richard Magalnick, Mindy Porell and all of their children and grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Richard’s life and honor his memory will be held at Family Funeral Care, 13001 South John Young Parkway in Orlando, 32837 on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 9-11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Richard’s honor to the ASPCA to honor his love of animals.
