
Rosemary (Hokkanen) Gebauer of Orlando, Florida passed away from natural causes on March 15, at age 95. Rosemary was born on November 19, l922, in Tyler, Minnesota, to Fred and Evelyn Johansen. She grew up on her parents' ranch in Western N.D. until they moved to N. MN in 1936. Rosemary graduated from Alango High School and Virginia Junior College (where she was a cheerleader). She earned an accounting degree, and pursued a lifelong career in business.
On March 20, 1945, she married Ronald Hokkanen and together, over 32 years they worked side by side, owning and operating Cook, Minnesota businesses, until Ronald's death in 1977.
A few years later she wed Larry Gebauer, a family friend, who passed shortly thereafter.
Rosemary and Ronald were charter members of the Vermilion Fairways Golf Course, Cook, MN, and that was when Rosemary developed an intense passion for golf. This led her to retire to Florida and live at the Fairways Golf Community in Orlando, where she was an active and much loved member.
In addition to her golf interests, activities included playing cards, line dancing, cross stitching, crocheting, travel, and her church and community in both Northern Minnesota and Florida.
Rosemary is survived in death and lovingly remembered by her son, Gary Hokkanen (Patricia), daughter Nadine Lutz, sister Beryl Sersha (Bill), brother Roger Bruce Johansen (Jean), granddaughter Jessica Williams (Matt), great grandsons Matthew and James, step grandson, Sean Schaefer (Carmon), great grandchildren Gabriella and Pierce, stepson Tom Gebauer (Debbie), stepdaughter Barbara Gebauer, their grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Vasile (Len).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Family Funeral Care in Orlando, Florida.
The memorial service will take place at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, Orlando, on Monday, March 26, at 11 a.m.
