

Sharon Finer of Oak Bluffs, died in Orlando on April 9, 2015 while on vacation. She was 65. Born Sharon Dumont in St. John’s Hospital, Lowell, MA, on July 25, 1949, she lived in Groveland, MA until the age of 7 when the family moved to Poughkeepsie, NY. The family lived in Poughkeepsie for almost 10 years before moving back to Groveland. She graduated from Pentucket High School, West Newbury, MA in 1967. Sharon graduated from Vassar School of Nursing in Poughkeepsie, NY, and then completed her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Boston University. After graduation, Sharon worked in the new ICU at Hale Hospital in Haverhill, MA. She then went on to spend most of her nursing career at Massachusetts General Hospital in many areas, including the burn unit, and the Phillips House. Also while at Massachusetts General she worked with some of the first cardiac transplant patients and AIDS patients programs. Sharon spent several years working at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Sharon is survived by her daughter Jessica Finer Wolk of New York, NY, son Gabriel Finer of Deerfield Beach, FL, sister Karen Dumont of West Tisbury, MA, brother Michael Dumont of Corona del Mar, CA, and sister Ann Grenier of Temecula, CA.
