William V. Phillips, 79, of Orlando, FL, passed away May 19, 2020 after battling Alzheimer’s for almost 10 years. He was born in Fayette, AL on July 2, 1940. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1958. He then served four years in the United States Navy. Bill worked for and retired from the Cambridge School Department. He had a passion for Singing Bluegrass music and traveling to Bluegrass festivals to perform, gardening, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Teresa (Griffin) to whom he was married for 57 years. He was a devoted father to William V. Phillips Jr., and his wife BettyAnn of Lowell, MA, Peter J. Phillips, and his wife Paula Kozlowski of Cambridge, MA, Carol Phillips Messina, and her husband James Messina of Orlando, FL.
He was a cherished grandfather to Michael Messina, and his wife Jenna Messina-Swanson of Orlando, FL, Brittany Phillips of Lowell, MA, Matthew Messina of Orlando, FL, Sean Phillips of Lowell, MA, Jonathan Messina of Orlando, FL, Liam Phillips of Lowell, MA, Maggie Phillips of Lowell, MA.
Viewing Service will be held at Family Funeral Care at 13001 S John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32837 on Saturday, May 23, 2020 from 3:00-5:00pm. Due to the current situation, a mass and burial will be held in Massachusetts at a later date.
