Alexander Rives McGinley

Alexander Rives McGinley passed away peacefully at home with family at his side on 9/30/2025 in Orleans Mass.

Rives was born in Norwalk Ct. On 10/25/1940 to John R. McGinley and Claudia Levering Matthews.

Rives attended the Pomfret School and later attended Boston University.

Rives had a fulfilling and active career as a Disc Jockey for the local radio station WLOM in Orleans. He was General Manager for Bank of Boston’s Orleans Branch.

He was an accomplished professional photographer and owner of A. Rives Photography.

Rives married Katharine Nichols August 27 1960 in Orleans Mass. and had recently celebrated their 65th. Wedding Anniversary.

Rives was a volunteer for over 20 years at the Wellfleet Audubon Society. He and Kathy could be found on Thursday’s leading guided tours discussing their love of the local bird’s and habitat for the site.

He enjoyed photographing all types of Cape Cod birds and the various wildlife in his back yard. He and Kathy would participate in the Audubon’s Local Bird Counts.

He was an avid Boston sports fan who enjoyed discussing the local teams with all who would listen.

He enjoyed sailing and was Commodore of the Orleans Yacht Club. He and Kathy would participate in a number of Figawi Races on their Hunter sailboat “Catbird”. He sailed from Fort Myers to Orleans Ma numerous times.

Rives is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Kathy, daughter Laura, 3 grandchildren,numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased in death by his son Alec McGinley, brother John McGinley, grandson Kristopher.

A graveside and Memorial service will be held on Saturday November 1,2025 at 11:00 am at Orleans Cemetery.
