
He was predeceased by his beloved family: Marcus H. and Gertrude H. Ward, parents; Roberta Ward, Helen Ward, Nancy Ward Maroni, sisters, brother-in-law Joseph F. Maroni and beloved partner of 52 years, William M. Baxter. Survivors include 6 nieces and nephews: Gail R. Pease (Tim), David Ward Maroni, Daniel J. Maroni (Susan), Marcia L. Kielb (John), Kay E. Neves (Jose) and Paul Allen Maroni; 13 Great nieces and nephews and 6+ Great-great nieces and nephews. His extended Cape Cod family consisted of many dear friends including Virginia Pena and the beloved Figueiredo family-- Dario, Rachel, Arthur and Christopher. He also leaves behind several Baxter family members and many close friends.
Born in Orange Massachusetts 90+ years ago, Allen will be remembered for his wit, love, sense of humor, gentleness and generosity. A graduate of the former Orange High School, Allen began his working career at the L.S. Starrett Company in Athol MA. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Corridor. After the war, he began his successful career as a highly respected interior design employee for Scalamandre Silks in Boston MA. In 1966 he and “Billy” relocated in Brewster running Boxwood Inn until 1970 and William M. Baxter Antiques until their retirement in 1999. He did travel many places throughout his life with Bill and many friends including “Guppy” and Camie Ford but always enjoyed returning to his lovely home.
The family would like to thank all who cared for Allen during his later years. Allen requested there will be no services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Brewster Rescue Fire Fighters Association (BRFFA), 1657 Main Street, Brewster MA 02631, or a charity of one's choice. Condolences will be kindly received by Allen's niece, Marcia L. Kielb at 273 Ponders Hollow Road, Westfield MA 01085.
