Arend W. D. Vos

Arend Willem Daniel Vos, 91, of East Orleans, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully after a brief illness leaving behind a life marked by accomplishment, curiosity and deep connection to his family, friends and local community. Born in Holland, Ad, as he was known, immigrated to the United States in 1957 with his beloved wife Mieke. He became a proud American citizen in 1964, embracing his adopted country while carrying forward the values and heritage of his homeland. He built an accomplished career in the corporate world with many successful years at Ford Motor Company. His professional journey later led him to PPG Industries where he rose to a C-suite executive role. His work took him across the globe with posting in cities such as Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo - experiences that reflected both his professional stature and his love of culture and travel. Upon retirement, he fulfilled a life long dream by building a house on the water in East Orleans where he enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of Cape Cod. Ad served as a Trustee for the Orleans Conservation Trust for a number of years as he was particularly interested in conservation of the dunes of the Cape. A true renaissance man and an avid art collector, he pursued a wide range of interests with enthusiasm and intellect. He was also known for his impeccable sense of style - always exceptionally well dressed reflecting his appreciation for elegance and detail.

After the passing of his first wife, Mieke, he found love again with his wife Sheryl (Perry). Together they shared many happy years filled with companionship, laughter and adventure. Arend is survived by his loving wife Sheryl, his son Michael Vos of Orange County, California, his daughter Monique Vos Merrill of Savannah, Georgia and his stepson, Jonathan (Kara) Reifler of New York City. His beloved youngest daughter Christina Vos predeceased him. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one cherished great granddaughter.

Arend Vos lived a rich and full life defined by his accomplishments, his passions and his family. In his later years, he was especially grateful for the time he spent in the Respite program at the Orleans Senior Center. A special thank you to Ad's loving caregivers and to the excellent medical staff at Cape Cod Hospital. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A visitation will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans on August 12 from 4-6PM.
