

Barbara Buckley Cummins, 93, of Brewster, MA, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025. Born on April 10, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Florence and William Buckley. Barbara was the beloved wife of A. Christopher Cummins who predeceased her in 2018. She lived a full life filled with devotion to her family, faith and community.
Barbara's early years were shaped by her education at St. Joan of Arc Grammar School, Dominican Academy High School, and Annhurst College. Barbara's commitment to learning and service carried through her life as she became an active and cherished member of every community she touched.
Barbara dedicated herself to numerous organizations over the course of her life that reflected her deep sense of responsibility and care for others. She served as President of the PTA, Chairwoman of the Parish Council and was a member of the Rosary Society in Huntington, NY where she and Chris raised their family. Barbara was a partner at Video Waves, Inc, demonstrating her versatility and entrepreneurial spirit.
Upon retirement, Barbara and Chris moved to Brewster, MA where they enjoyed many years of travel and friendship. Barbara's volunteer work included membership in the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary and Our Lady of the Cape Thrift Shop.
A devoted Catholic, Barbara was an active participant in her parish communities throughout her life. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Huntington, NY where she was a catechism teacher for many years. When she moved to Brewster, MA, she joined Our Lady of the Cape Parish. Her faith was central to her life and inspired her many acts of kindness and service.
Barbara is survived by her three devoted children, Susan Caputo ( Alex Alvarez), Stacie McLaughlin (Dennis), and Chris Cummins.
She is also survived by her seven devoted grandchildren: Jessica Brady, Patrick Caputo, Melissa Kimbro, Brian McLaughlin, Kate McLaughlin, Carolyn Brown and Kit Cummins.
Many thanks to the kind and caring staff of Maplewood Senior Living where she lived for the past nine years. Special thanks to Barbara and George Cameran, as well as Suzie Richie-McIlvene who provided support, care and friendship.
A Memorial Mass will be held March 14, 2025 at Our Lady of the Cape, Catholic Church at 11 am, located at 468 Stony Brook Rd., Brewster, MA.
