Barbara Estes

She was born in Glen Ridge, NJ, on December 5, 1927 to the late Stanley M. and Doris L. Crowell. Barbara graduated from The Kimberly School, now Montclair Kimberly Academy and received a B.A. from Bob Jones University. She was married to the late Frank S. Estes in 1953.

Barbara was a homemaker and nursery school teacher before retiring to Cape Cod in the early 1990’s. Barbara was very active at Grace Presbyterian Church in Montclair, NJ and their Pioneer Girls program. She later served as Deaconess at Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church and was active in Bible studies and the widow’s support group. She was active in her local PEO chapter and the Gideon’s Women’s Auxiliary. She loved baseball and the Red Sox and followed games both at home and on an occasional outing to Fenway Park.

Barbara’s two sons, John C. and F. Stephen, pre-deceased her. She is survived by daughters Jane Livingston and Beverly Estes-Smargiassi, daughter-in-law Denise Estes, two sisters, Kathryn D. Crowell and Carolyn Wallace and sister-in-law Katherine Estes. She is also survived by 8 grand-children, and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 19 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 153 Grove St., Montclair, NJ. A second memorial service will be held later this year on Cape Cod.
