Barbara M. Pomeroy, of Orleans, MA, was survived by her two sons, William of Orleans and David and his wife Jessica from Tenafly, NJ. She is also survived by her two sisters, Donna Cogburn of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Patricia Dennehy of Peterborough, NH and her two grandsons, Nathan and Matthew Pomeroy of Tenafly, NJ.
Barbara was born in Lowell, MA on November 15, 1932. She grew up in Lowell, MA and graduated from Simmons College. She continued her education at Boston University, enabling her to pursue a career teaching elementary school.
After marrying Collins M. Pomeroy, in 1967, Barbara raised their two sons in the northeast. The White Mountains of NH hosted her golden years, where she became an avid member of the Silver Streaks ski organization in the Waterville Valley ski community.
Since 1977, Barbara and her family have spent summers at their house in Orleans, Cape Cod. In 2007, she made Orleans her permanent residence. Over many summers in Orleans, she became an active member at Namequoit Sailing Association, holding the positions of Secretary and Director of the Junior Sailing Program.
Throughout her life, Barbara continuously found happiness in her many passions, including: gardening, music, cross-country skiing, sailing, tennis, cooking, playing Bridge with her friends, and long walks on the Cape.
Barbara will always be cherished and remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends.
Family and friends will be gathered to remember her life on Friday, July 14, at St. Joan of Arc Church, In Orleans, MA at 11:00.
