Beatrice J. Viau

Beatrice (“Betty”) Johanna Fougled Viau of Orleans passed away on April 25, 2013. She was the daughter of Emil Thord Fougled, a machinist and test driver for Indian Motocycle (Springfield) and Hanna Josefina Karlsson3. Betty was born in Springfield in 1916 and was a graduate of the High School of Commerce. She and her husband moved from Westwood to Orleans in 1955. For many years, they had a summer home in Bristol, NH. Betty was active in the Orleans Council on Aging and the Orleans Community Exchange and Thrift Shop. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, William E. Viau, her brother Hans Johan Emil Fougled, and stepsons William and Donald Viau. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Eleanor M. Hellyar (Wilbraham), seven step-grandchildren, and two generations of their descendants.

Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 am in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joan of Arc Church, Canal Road, Orleans on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Viau family plot at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA .
