Born on March 3, 1935, she grew up in Belmont, MA, and attended the Winn Brook School, and Belmont High School. Following her graduation she attended Lasell Junior College and then spent a year at the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
Charlotte spent the next six years working at Harvard University and McCann Erickson in New York City. Following the passing of her parents, she returned to Boston University where she studied journalism.
After she received her bachelor’s degree she worked for the American Legion and McCall’s Magazine. She then went on to be director of volunteers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York followed by an office management position at Greenthal Residential Sales, also in New York City.
Since retiring and coming to the Cape, Charlotte has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cape Cod Symphony and Conservatory of Music and Arts, where she served on the Education Committee as well as the Guild’s Governance Committee.
Charlotte loved the arts- classical music, the opera and ballet, and was particularly fond of the impressionist arts. She also loved her dogs and enjoyed following the adventures of the Royal Family. She enjoyed this community and said many times how happy she was to have landed on our shores. Charlotte was a generous, loving, caring woman and will be missed by many.
Charlotte was the daughter of the late Helen Otzen Frye and E. Bailey Frye, and the sister of the late Edmund (Pete) Frye. She is survived by her nephews Shaun Frye and Douglas Frye, both of Salem, MA, and her two cousins, Elizabeth Backeberg of Wilton, N.H., and Amy Thorndike of Cumberland, Maine. She leaves behind her dear friends Elizabeth H. Graham of Fairfield, Conn.; Melora B. North of Brewster; Marc Kelley of Mt. Doro, Fla.; Melora H. (Peter) North; Rowland Scherman of Orleans; and Robert Royce of Orleans.
