

Donald Bradford Walsh – Donnie Walsh passed away peacefully at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Chatham, Ma on Jan 27, 2015 at the age of 87. Born on the Cape he was a life long resident of Orleans, Massachusetts. Donald was a true Native Cape Codder who spent his life serving the public. At 17 he joined the Navy during the WWII conflict. He returned home to work at the First National Supermarket and then the Hyannis Cooperative Bank, until 1958. In 1958 he joined the Orleans Police Department and served the Town and Public for 30 years, the last 4 as Chief. After retirement from the police department, he continued working first for the Mid Cape Home Center and then for the Town Parks and Recreation Department as parking lot attendant supervisor and beach patrol officer. Always positive and outgoing, he was well known to the public and well loved by his family and friends.
Donald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anita (Jamieson) Walsh, 3 Daughters, Marion Walsh of North Hampton, MA, Donna (Walsh) Driscoll and her husband Tim of Orleans, Ma, and Julie (Walsh) Fawkes and her husband Christian of Sandwich Ma., 2 Sons, Kenneth Walsh and his wife Cynthia Matheson of Brewster, Ma and Clyde Walsh and his wife Sheila of Brookline, NH, 4 Grandchildren, Sadie (Driscoll) Skayne and her husband Patrick, Annie, Edward and Connor, 1 Great Grandchild Jane, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m at the Orleans United Methodist Church, 73 Main Street, Orleans, MA 02653.There will be no visiting hours.
