Edna N. Dibble

Born in Hartford, CT and raised in Bloomfield, CT, she was the daughter of Niels C. and Voldine L. Nielsen, each of whom emigrated from Denmark.

Edna and her husband Elbert lived in Wethersfield, CT, while raising their children Peter and Christina. When her children were older, Edna accepted a position with the Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford and worked there for ten years operating a comptometer. Edna had many hobbies and loved needle point knitting and sewing.

The Dibble's made their way to Cape Cod when a neighbor who owned a cottage on Samoset Road suggested they visit and see if they liked it. Traveling along were Edna's parents who said Eastham "reminded them of their homeland in Denmark". They bought a half acre for six hundred dollars and built their house in stages. Edna's three sisters also bought property nearby and five generations of Nielsen's continue to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday together every year.

Both Edna and Elbert found their niche in Eastham through volunteering: Elbert at the Orleans Eastham Elks and Edna at the Eastham Senior Center. Edna was also a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.

Edna is survived by her two children: Peter Dibble and his soul mate Janine Orsenigo of Eastham, MA and Christina Korzun and her husband Richard of South Barrington, IL. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Tammy Martin and her husband Bob, Stephanie Dibble, Lisa Korzun and Amanda (Dibble) Neidhardt and her husband Brian, seven great grandchildren: Andrew, Campbell, Carson, Kinsie, Addison, Charlotte, and Eleanor as well as many nieces and nephews both grand and great grand.

Following cremation, burial at the Evergreen Cemetery next to her beloved husband Elbert, will be private and take place in the spring of 2024.
