Eleanor Mills

EASTHAM- Eleanor Mae (Pearson) Mills passed away peacefully May 31, 2012 at the age of 87. A long time resident of Eastham, she was predeceased by her husband Alfred R. Mills, and was the daughter of the late Clarence Edmond Pearson and Annie Gibson Bell.

Ellie grew up in Eastham, under the care of her beloved foster mother Tamsen “Addie” Nickerson. She attended the Little Yellow Schoolhouse and graduated from Orleans High School class of 1942. After graduation Ellie worked in Boston at John Hancock Insurance until returning to the Cape in 1947.

Ellie was the loving mother of Patsy Daniels, Marca Daley, Melanie Gallagher, Mary Brown, Alfred Mills, and David Mills and grandmother to Trina Brown, Joanna Brown, Jennifer Bornas, Amy Walker, James Gallagher, Alyson Silveira, Hillarie Mills, Peter Mills, Charlie Mills, as well as “Grammy Great” to Jamie Johnson. She also leaves several nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.

Ellie is predeceased by her siblings, Robert Pearson, Alice Bateman and Virginia Erwin, her grandson David Daniels and her special aunt Abbie Nickerson.

As a mom she enjoyed nature walks, going to the beach, quahogging, rooting for the Red Sox and playing board games and outdoor sports with her family. She was a Girl Scout Leader, member of the Eastham United Methodist Church, Jr. WSCS, an Eastham Registrar of Voters and an accomplished candlepin bowler. Ellie’s family would like to thank Pleasant Bay Nursing Home, her former caregiver Joanne and the folks at the Eastham Senior Center.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 4 from 5-8 pm at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Parkway, Orleans, MA. 02653. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 5 at 11 am at Eastham United Methodist Church, 3200 Route 6 Eastham, MA. 02642. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Eastham, MA.
