

Elizabeth Phillips Lea Barker was born January 8th 1923, married December 24, 1942 in New Rochelle, New York to Robert Fonda Barker who predeceased her in September 1986. She attended Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn, New York. She also attended Grand Central Art School majoring in Fashion Design. Surviving her are her brother, Dr. Edgar Phillips Lea of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, her son, Jon Wayne Barker of Montgomery Village, Maryland, her daughter Caryn Phillips Koch, Damme, Germany, grandchildren, James Wayne Kidd of Jacksonville, Florida, Jon Fonda Kidd of Miami Beach, Florida, Jodie Elizabeth Turner of Secretary, Maryland, Natalie Fonda Koch, Theodore Ludwig Koch and Robert Lea Koch all of Damme, Germany and Alexandra Barker of Maryland, one great grandson, Dalton Joshua Kidd of Florida and Jenny a step great grand daughter she was predeceased by her daughter Laura Lea Barker Kidd and her granddaughter Jennifer Lea Kidd both of Cambridge, Maryland, she is also survived by Marjorie and Raymond Francis of Dallas, Texas.
She was president of the PTA of Mamaroneck Junior High School, was active in Planned Parenthood of Westchester and Planned Dances Etc. for the Larchmont Assembly.
She summered on Pleasant Bay since 1953 and moved permanently in 1967. She was instrumental in organizing the Cape Cod Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America and was program chairman for several years. She was also on the board and a Charter Member of the American Needlework Guild. She traveled extensively attending Needlepoint Seminars and received her teachers certification from Valentine Museum in Richmond, Virginia. She modeled in Westchester at Orienta Beach Club, Wykagyl Country Club and Larchmont Yacht Club, Bonnie Briar Golf Club in Westchester and Monomoy Yacht Club and Eastward Hoi Country Club as well as an Associate Member of Hyannis Yacht Club. She also was a member of the Quilters Guild, the Cranberry Rug Hooking Guild and the Association of Traditional Hooking Artist. She was a member of the Chatham Hospital Auxilliary and Needlepoint Rug which was a 2 years in the making by members of the group as a money making project for the Cape Cod Hospital as well as being on the board. She was also chairman of the Chatham Heart Fund.
She worked at Brewster Manor Nursing Home and at the Brewster Place Assisted Living as a receptionist for several years
