Esther Mae (Bullock) Eddy, age 92, of Brewster, MA, passed away at home surrounded by her family on February 23, 2023. Born in Concord, NH on November 11, 1930, the eldest child of Arthur and Ruth (Lindquist) Bullock, she grew up in Bow, NH. She graduated from Concord High School where she was a cheerleader and a member of the student council. She was close friends with a group of girls fondly referred to as the “Bow girls,” many of whom remained lifelong friends. She went on to study retailing at Chamberlain School in Boston.
She met and married Earl Eddy, a UNH graduate, and they raised their four children in Massachusetts and New York. As she moved around with her family, she stayed involved with many activities, including Garden Club, the League of Women Voters, church activities, bridge, golf, and curling. She was also an accomplished artist, knitter, and needlepointer, and taught classes in the needle arts. She encouraged her children’s many activities, as well as leading Campfire Girls and church groups. She provided a loving and supportive home for her family in every location. After her children were grown, she became a real estate broker until she and Earl retired to her beloved Cape Cod over 20 years ago.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Earl M. Eddy, her brothers Donald and Gary Bullock, and brother- and sister-in-law William and Phyllis Eddy. She is survived by her children, Pamela Eddy (Robert Martineau) of Nashville, TN, Cynthia Parrella (David) of Osterville, MA, William Eddy (MaryBeth) of Barnstable, MA, Matthew Eddy (Gretchen Knaus) of Osterville, MA, and she was recently reunited with daughter Jane West (Paul) of Albuquerque, NM. She also leaves nine grandchildren and four great grandsons, who brought her great joy, four beloved nieces, and numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would also like to thank Esther’s caregivers, especially Judy Plimpton, and the Fidelis hospice team, including Dr. Scott Graham and Judith Ward, for their excellent care, allowing the family to honor Esther’s wishes to remain in her home.
