Esther will be remembered for being a life-long care giver through her work as a home health care aid. Her willingness to help those in need and care for the elderly were a core foundation of who she was.
In her twilight years, she continued to provide home health care to her husband as his health began to decline.
Beginning in the mid 1970s, Esther and Hank opened their home to provide housing for summer workers from Lithuania, Jamaica and more. Loving memories were often shared of the many tenants they had over the years. The family wants to extend a deep appreciation to all of them for being a part of their lives for so many years.
Esther will be missed for her kind, caring and compassionate presence. As well as her welcoming home for any or all that may stop in for a chat. She had a way of making time for family and friends that seemingly built a foundation of love and support from their corner of the world on Cottage Street.
Esther is also survived by her close friend Bernadette “Bernie” Ryder. Whom hard laughs and good times were shared along with Bernie’s long-time partner Phil Richardson.
For those who may remember, if you looked out at the Town Cove in Orleans, you might just see Esther & Hank riding around in their pontoon boat, as they loved hosting gatherings of family and friends out on the water.
Although a chapter of our lives may have closed with their passing, we will always remember the lessons they taught us and the stories they shared. In her final moments, Esther was at peace knowing that she would be joining her love, Henry.
A graveside service will be held in late September where Henry and Esther Veit will be laid to rest together. Services will be announced at a later date.
