Evelyn “Evie” Louise Walker Dettenborn, of Eastham, MA, passed away at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Chatham, MA on March 5, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence John Dettenborn who passed away in 1998.

Evelyn was the daughter of the late Hansine and Daniel Walker.

Formerly from East Hartford, CT, Evelyn graduated from East Hartford High School in 1945, she worked at the J.A. Bergren Dairy in East Hartford until she moved to Eastham in 1970. While living in Eastham, Evie enjoyed working at the Eastham Superette for many years, retiring in 2017.

She is survived by a son Craig Lawrence Dettenborn, a nephew and three nieces and many wonderful friends and neighbors including her special friend Georgia Schneider. She was predeceased by a brother and sister in law Gordon Ehlers and Helen Walker and sister in law Elizabeth D. Knowles.

The family wishes to thank the Elder Services, Broadreach Liberty Commons, and Broadreach Hospice staff for their caring and compassionate care for Evelyn.
