Obituary of Frederick J. Kamens
Frederick "Jack" Kamens of Eastham, MA, passed away on May 11, 2022, at the age of 88 years. He was born in Terryville, CT on May 7, 1934, the fifth child of the late Edward and Wanda (Schultz) Kamens. He was educated in the public schools, graduated from Terryville High School in 1952 and attended Morse Business College. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was elected Town Clerk in Terryville, worked as a legal assistant for a period of time and was Assistant Purchasing Agent at the Holo-krome Corp. in West Hartford, CT for 10 years. In 1974 Jack and his family moved to Cape Cod, settling in Eastham, which was their favorite vacation spot. After working at his own painting business for awhile he began working at the Orleans Post Office as a rural letter carrier, where he worked for thirty years, retiring in 2005. He loved his job and all the many customers he met, while delivering their mail. His favorite times were with his family, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hugging them, teasing them and playing with them. In previous years, when he was able, he enjoyed playing golf and he really loved working in his yard and gardens. Jack was also known for his great sense of humor. and, of course, anyone who remembered Jack knew would never turn down a good martini (two olives please). Jack was a charter member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Harwich, where he was actively involved for many years, including serving on the Property and Building committees. Jack is survived by his brother Melvin Kamens of Harwinton, his wife Barbara (Polmateer) Kamens of Eastham, to whom he was married for 58 years; son Gregg Kamens and his wife Donna, of Eastham, daughter Lisa Brett, also of Eastham; and son-in-law Bill North of Chatham.; grandchildren Christopher Kamens, Jacqueline Ellis, Jillian Mullin, Garrett North and Willow North; and his great grandchildren Annikah Ellis, Jonah Ellis, Christopher Peters, Matthew Peters, Annabelle Mullin and Georgia Kamens, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Carrie North, his brother Edward Kamens and sisters Erma Schittina, Ellen Schroeder and Joan Molzon. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 310 Route l37 Harwich, on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 am.
