Herbert C. Millane

Herbert Charles Millane, born July 29, 1934, in Syracuse, New York, passed away on September 5, 2026. Herb will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud veteran, and a man whose curiosity and many interests enriched his life and the lives of those around him.

Herb served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He later graduated from Syracuse University and built a dedicated professional career with General Electric and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Central New York.

Herb approached life with an inquisitive mind and a deep appreciation for the world around him. He also had a tremendous sense of humor. He found joy in books and music, expressed his creativity through photography and painting, and delighted in the quiet beauty of birdwatching. These interests reflected the thoughtful, observant spirit that made him so special.

Above all, Herb loved his family deeply. His greatest joy was found in the people closest to him, and the love he gave them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Herb is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Jim) Ciciriello and Karen (Dave) Whitney; and by his beloved grandchildren, Emma (Aaron) and Andrew Ciciriello, and Victoria, and Mikey Whitney. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Denise.

Herb’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his loving and skilled caregivers—Marsha, Cathrine, Joy, Grace, and Rose—whose daily compassion, patience, and devotion brought him comfort and dignity. Their kindness and support meant more than words can express and will always be remembered with profound appreciation. The family is also deeply grateful to the dedicated caregivers at Cape Cod Post Acute Care and Broad Reach Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided.

Herb’s family will cherish the memories of his love, his gentle presence, his sense of humor, and the many ways he brought beauty, knowledge, and warmth into their lives. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with funeral service to immediately follow. Burial will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 1:00PM, Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.
