James Anthony Scanlan
August 29, 1931 – January 19, 2019
James Anthony Scanlan, 87, of Eastham, MA passed away on January 19th after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family and the caring staff of Pleasant Bay Nursing Home.
He was born August 29, 1931 in NYC to Hugh and Mary(Sweeney) Scanlan. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes HS and Fordham University. James retired from Avon Corp and then continued his career in finance with Nestles Corp in Purchase, NY. He was a Korean War Veteran.
He and his wife settled in Valley Cottage NY where they lived for 37 years and raised their family. In 1999 they retired to Eastham, MA.
James was an avid reader, enjoyed playing tennis and working in his garden. He loved music and belonged to a choral group in NY and was a member of the Surftones here on Cape Cod. He was also a member of the Eastham Elks.
James is survived by his wife Eugenia(Craig) of 59 years, 2 sons, Tony of Eastham, Michael and his wife Chloe of London, Eng. and his daughter Rebecca and Skipper Lee of Harwich. He is also survived by his brother Daniel of Mashpee and his family, his beloved grandson Anthony and his great granddaughter Shae Lily of Hudson Falls, NY as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear family friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in NY. Donations may be made in memory of James to the Alzheimer's Family Support Center, 2095 Main ST. Brewster, MA 02631
