Jane Ann (McGirr) Mayo, 91, of Orleans, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on November 6, 2021.

Jane was born on January 4, 1930, in Boston, MA. She was the daughter of Robert and Elsa McGirr. She attended Melrose High School. In 1965 she moved to Orleans with her five children. In 1970 she met Ralph Mayo and they were married for 16 years. They shared many happy memories together. Jane loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to cook and bake. Jane’s Christmas cookies were cherished by all who received them. She was a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Jane truly adored her family. We will miss her smile and caring ways. She was generous and kind and loved spending time with her family. We will keep her in our hearts, always.

For the last seven years Jane resided with her daughters, Jamie White and Wendy White. Many hours were spent playing Scrabble, enjoying yummy sundaes from the Ice Cream Café and going to Rock Harbor and happy times with her grandsons, Dakota McDonald and Michael White. Jane loved going to Tricia’s Salon at Brewster to see Helen and get a beautiful hair style weekly. Jane lit up every room with her twinkling eyes and beautiful smile. It was a joy to be around her.

Jane was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Mayo, daughters Mary Jane Svenningsen and Laura Hayes, sister Nancy (McGirr) Aucoin, and brothers Richard Wehage, Frederick Wehage and William McGirr and grandson, Christopher Svenningsen,. Jane was predeceased by her best friend, Liz Kalinick.
