

Jean Hill (Rubel) Age 86 of Brewster passed away peacefully at Epoch Nursing home with family by her side on October 15th 2015. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Hill, Jr. of Stoughton, MA. Born in Stoughton, MA in 1929, the youngest of five children, Mrs. Hill was the sister of the late James Rubel, Joan Mead, Barbara McDermott and Marie St.Thomas. She was a graduate from Stoughton High School class of 1947. She moved to Brewster in 1965. She worked as a pastry chef at Chillingsworth’s in Brewster and as a baker at the Mercantile in Dennis.
You could find Jean tending her vegetables at the Brewster town gardens. After she harvested her crop, she would spend days canning mustard relish,
pickles, and jellies for all her family and friends. She also enjoyed baking for her family and friends and was known for making the best chocolate chip cookies anyone ever ate!! She loved visiting the local beaches and cruising around the Cape in her convertible wearing her signature straw hat.
She is survived by her sons James Hill and wife Linda of Brewster, MA and Michael Hill and wife Beverly of Osterville, MA. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Tiffany Rogers and husband Jeff of Sandwich, MA and Jennifer Stetkiewicz and husband Peter of Westport, MA and several great grandchildren. She was the aunt of Barry G. Mead and his wife Janice of Mashpee, MA, Coralee Rivers and her husband James of Bridgewater, MA, William Rubel and wife Barbara of Brewster, MA, Laurice Rubel and Alan Rubel both of Stoughton, MA, Nancy Rubel and Sally St.Thomas and the late Kim Mead.
A celebration of her life will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA on Wednesday October 21st 2015 from 4:00p.m.-7:00p.m
