Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, Joanie attended Edgemont School in Montclair, NJ. She received a special award and plaque from the Matheny School and Hospital in Peapack, NJ, for her 40+ years of service.
A resident of Orleans for 12 years, Joanie enjoyed activities with the Orleans Council on Aging. She loved to give gifts of her homemade corn bread to local merchants and her friends at the Orleans CVS. She was a member of Brewster Baptist Church.
Joanie is survived by her 2 beloved cats, Boots and Chipper; her 2 sisters, Glenna Haupt and Michaela Carmiggelt; 3 nephews and many grandnephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 11AM in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans.
