Joan Marie Rizzotti

January 23, 1932February 16, 2021

Joan Marie Lanza Rizzotti, 89, passed peacefully on February 16, 2021 in Eastham, Massachusetts. She was born on January 23, 1932 in New Rochelle, New York. Joan graduated from Albert Leonard High School and attended New Rochelle Hospital School of Nursing where she received her RN. Joan used her nursing skills in a variety of settings; hospital, school and industrial. She met her soulmate, Alfred, and they were married at St. Joseph’s Church on November 8th, 1953. She was predeceased by her mother, Theresa Lanza.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Alfred; son, Al (Barbara); daughters, Patricia, Barbara (Steve) and Susan; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew (Lauren), Benjamin, Deanna and Amanda; and all her cherished fur-grandbabies and many cousins.

Joan loved her family more than life and spent as much time with them as possible. She was known for her passions; walking the ocean, boating, fishing, clamming, dancing, gardening, tennis, bridge, book club, church choir at St. Joan of Arc, volunteering with St. Vincent DePaul’s Society and enjoying time with her many friends. She always felt she was in “Heaven on Earth” living on Cape Cod; able to enjoy sunsets, whale and seal watching on the ocean.

She was a shining light for all of us and will be missed.

I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your beautiful mother. I met your mom and dad while I worked at the Fairway Restaurant years ago. They quickly became my favorite regulars and gradually I decided to adopt them as my Cape Cod grandma and grandpa. It was always a delight when they walked in the door. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Hello Rizzotti Family - So sorry to hear of your loss. Joan was such a positive person. I saw her a few years ago and it was amazing how much she reminded me of my grandmother Mary. I remember all those Thanksgivings at your house growing up. Al gave the best toasts! Hope you are all well.
