OBITUARY
John Spellman
March 7, 1936 – March 24, 2013
EASTHAM – John A. Spellman, of Eastham, passed away peacefully on March 24th after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Paterson, NJ to Mary and Raymond Spellman on March 7, 1936. He was the husband of Margaret Mary Spellman for 55 years and leaves behind his wife and children; Cheryl Hand and husband Bob of Flemington, NJ, John Spellman of Greenwood Lake, NY; grandchildren, Jessica Spellman, Scott Spellman, and Danielle Wolfson, plus many New Jersey and Cape Cod friends. He had worked for Dupont in Pompton Lakes, NJ where he had lived for many years. While in Pompton Lakes he served as a Special Police Officer for 20 years. Upon retirement he lived in Shrewsbury, MA and then moved to Cape Cod full-time where he lived life to the fullest. John loved cooking for friends, fishing, and golfing. He had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in memory of John A. Spellman to: HOPE Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601. A Celebration of Life will be held on a date yet to be determined.

Thanks so much all of you. He was a Wonderful Guy and always assisted people when help was needed. It is not easy being with out the guy I first met in fourth grade at St. Francis School. Peg Spellman

So sorry to hear of John's passing. My memories of John over the years are all pleasant ones. He was so great to talk to at the reunions, we shared many experiences at St. Anthony's and BHS '55. Sincere condolences to Peg and all of John's many many friends and family members. Corky Guenter

It is sad to hear about John's passing. I lived in Haskell, and I was in the Butler HS class of 1955. I lost my husband 6 months ago, so I have very deep sympathy for John's wife. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family.

I remember Mr. Spellman well,first as my friend's Dad,and later as the wise man who put up with us in our teens.He always exhibited the utmost respect for us ,while explaining the bounderies of decency and self control. If there was ever an example of self control,he was it. Thank you for your guidance and friendship,I wish I'd seen more of you as we all grew older.
