

He was born to Raphael and Christina Di Brigida on June 13, 1939 in Paterson, NJ. Joe, known to his children and grandchildren as Jopa, graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1961, later receiving his Master’s Degree in English. He married Judith Reilly on October 7, 1961.
Jopa was a teacher, Vice Principal, and Principal in the Waldwick, Kinnelon, and Lincoln Park, NJ school systems. He was a life-long educator in the best sense of the word, teaching students, colleagues and family alike. Many students owe their graduation and direction in life to “Mr. D.”
He was an active member and Eucharistic Minister of Saint Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, MA, a member of the Nauset Newcomers Club and Orleans Yacht Club, where he ran the Chandlery, and Chairman of the Orleans Council on Aging for 11 years.
Jopa is survived by his wife, Judy; his three sons, Joseph Jr., Darryl, and David; and his four grandchildren, Sarah, Joseph III, Alexandra, and Christina.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 26 at Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, MA at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 27, with a burial to follow at Orleans Cemetery.
