Katherine Louise Kane

Kathy was born on June 16, 1959, in Springfield, MA, to Louise (Bongiovanni) Moriarty and James M. Moriarty. She was intelligent, witty, and ambitious, working her way up from cashier to computer programmer to technical manager. Kathy spent the last twenty years of her career as an Assistant Vice President at Disability Management Services, Inc., in Springfield. Kathy loved solving puzzles and took particular joy in beating her family members at Scrabble.

Kathy retired in 2021 and achieved her lifelong dream of moving to Cape Cod, settling in Wellfleet. In her later years, she loved taking long walks on the seashore with her dog Bootsy, shopping with her granddaughter Ev, and brightening the lives of her friends and neighbors.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, her beloved grandmother Kitty Moriarty, and her sister Debra Moriarty. She is survived by her son Shaun, daughter-in-law Rachel, and granddaughter Ev; her sister Lynn Moriarty; her nephew Michael Moriarty; and cousins Daniel, Jackie, and Allison Chapdelaine, Lisa LaTour, Kaitlyn Fydenkevez, and Michael, Sam, and Celee Smithkowski. Kathy was proud to consider Emily, Matthew, and Andrew Geanacopoulos part of her family. She had many close friends—Nancy, Cindy, and Moe in Springfield; Maureen, Barbara, and Scott on the Cape; and many others. She was an active member of the Orleans-Eastham Elks Lodge.

Burial services will be held privately. A celebration of life will be held at the Orleans-Eastham Elks Lodge on Saturday, May 9th from noon to 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Shriners Children’s, a charity Kathy loved.
