Born January 13th, 1927 in Provincetown, He always claimed it was a Friday. Born into a family of fisherman, he worked on the boats with his brothers as an engineer and sometimes captain. At the young age of 17, he joined the Navy as a Sea-Bee to be sent to the South Pacific Theater. Stationed on Guam, Si-Pan, and Okinawa where he operated heavy equipment, building the air strip, a feat in which he held great pride. After being honorably discharge, he returned to P-Town to complete his high school Education. After a period of time fishing, he applied to and was accepted by the Hemphill Diesel Engineering School in New York City. Receiving his diploma, he returned again to Provincetown fishing with his brothers meeting and marrying Norma Simmons. Together they had three sons Lewis, Kenneth, and Norman. Shortly after leaving the family business they moved to Wellfleet, purchasing a service station. After a couple of successful years, they sold the station and he pursued a career as an insurance salesman. Moving the family again in 1967 to Orleans he applied for and got a job with the US Postal System. Starting as a part time clerk he worked his way up the ladder to become Postmaster of the East Orleans post office. He loved his job as a postmaster but always second to his wife and family. He leaves behind his son Lewis Reis, his wife Debby, their Daughter Holly (Reis) Linardy, her husband David, their children Mia and Colin. Also their son Shawn Reis.
