Lily Arlene Anderson

August 31, 1999October 4, 2020

Lily Arlene Anderson, of Eastham passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4th from complications of ALS. She had just celebrated her 21st birthday on August 31st.

Lily was a beautiful soul, patient, understanding, calm and poised who came into the world with her own special gifts and challenges. She met every challenge with a smile and determination. From Early Intervention to the Children's Place to Pre-K in Wellfleet to K through 5 at Eastham Elementary School, Lily was surrounded by an array of amazing educators who enriched her mind and spirit. From there, Lily went on to the Riverview School in East Sandwich, where she was a day student for 6 years and a post graduate student in the dorms for the past 2 years. Lily loved her time at Riverview with all her friends and dedicated & marvelous teachers. Lily also adored being home with her family and her beloved cat, Dusty. They were inseparable. Lily loved to laugh. She loved music and dancing, airplanes and travel and had an incredible sense of style. She was so looking forward to getting her driver's license, living in her own apartment and getting a job.

Lily is survived by her parents, Rob and Susan of Eastham, her sisters Sarah of Long Beach, CA and Emma & her husband Jean and Lily's niece Iona all of Boston, MA, her Aunt and Uncle, Tina & Bob of Orleans and their dogs, Brooke & Elin (Lily adored them), and her Uncles and Aunts, Chris & Robin of Arizona, Greg & Sammi of So. Carolina, Scott & Katie of Florida and several wonderful cousins. She will be dearly missed and remembered always.

A celebration of Lily’s life will be held at a later date. The family is asking, in lieu of flowers, if so inclined, please donate to Compassionate Care ALS on Cape Cod.

Lilly was such a caring person, she would always make it to my daughter's birthday parties as they grew up, with a special place in our hearts.

Sue and Rob, I know the light in your lives has left, and I'm so sorry. Your girl gave us all so much joy. Watching her grow and thrive within your loving arms... and we were so grateful for how close she and Tess were for all those years... all the great birthday parties and sleepovers. My heart and thoughts are with you.

I met Lily for the first time when she was 10 years old. We played air hockey together at Bonkers in Yarmouth, MA. I also won her a stuffed animal there. 3 years later, she started going to Riverview, and we became close. We walked side by side together during those long winter hikes, and we rode bikes together in the summer. We also spent a lot of time together looking at pictures and listening to music. I’m HEARTBROKEN to see this happen to such a young, sweet soul. Rest In Peace, Lily!
