Maggie was born in Brooklyn, NY, on June 18, 1934, the second daughter of Mary and David Colquhoun. She graduated from St. Brendan’s Catholic High School in Brooklyn, after which she went to airline school in Worcester, MA. She then began work at Eastern Airlines, where she made life-long friends. Too tall to be a flight attendant, she worked in ticket offices and retired as branch manager for the Manhattan Office. As an airline employee she was able to travel the world, including Europe, Bermuda, Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America. During her time with Eastern she saved up to purchase land and build her first house in Eastham. When it became available, she bought the lot next door, and in 2005 she built her single story home known as Maggie’s Manse II. She became a full-time Eastham resident in 1986, working first for Nauset Marine in Orleans and then Woodchucks Gallery in Brewster at The Lemon Tree Shops.
Maggie was a long-time member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Orleans, MA, where she developed many friendships, sang in the choir, and drove for Fish. She also volunteered at the church’s Thrift Shop and always enjoyed her time there with fellow volunteers. In addition, she was active with the Eastham Council on Aging, taking bi-weekly exercise classes. She enjoyed reading, challenging herself with crossword puzzles, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends.
Maggie is survived by her sister-in-law Laura Ann Farrell Colquhoun; nephew John Boyens (Cindy); nieces Susan Boyens Reiter (Don), and Nancy Boyens; as well as other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great, great niece and great, great nephews.
