Please know that I am sending you all much love and light during this sad time. I love your mother so much. She, and Meredith too, were
always the highlight of my day in Stop & Shop years back. Two of the biggest most cheerful smiles I've ever seen. I last saw Peggy in December at the Outer Cape Choral concert held in Orleans at the Nauset Regional Middle School. I had the delight of having Peggy sit down right next to me. Same glowing smile as always. We caught up about her health and of course Meredith and her managing of all the stores she is in charge of. It made me miss the old days of NRHS with Meredith and of course Stop & Shop. I'm sorry I was not able to attend the Monday celebration of life, I would've loved to have seen you. Your mom is an amazing lady.

Dear Meredith,
Just today I learned of your Mothers passing and I was so sorry to hear the news. In the short time that I knew Peggy she taught me much about resilience and bravery. Each time she talked of you, her face would light up with the biggest smile. She was so grateful for your phone calls, visits and gifts. You brought her much joy on many of her darkest days. I will miss our visits and conversations. If anybody deserves to rest in peace, it’s Peggy. 

I’m so sorry to hear of Peggy’s passing. I went to Orleans High with her and to this day have our class picture in my home. Sending love to her family. 

Dear Meredith and family,
     I cannot tell you how sad I was to be away and unable to join in the celebration of your mom’ life.  She was the best neighbor for sooo many years until she found her special spot at Rock Harbor Village.  I would often see her at the Council on Aging and we would laugh about the old days!   One day I suggested she dye her hair pink as she was the closest person I ever met to compete with the energizer bunny.  She looked at me an in her typical humor said, “I’ ll  think about that —-as soon as my hair grows back!”  No matter what health challenge she faced or treatment she was undergoing she never lost her sense of humor.  She was so proud of you and your children and loved to fill me in on everything Victoria and Tyler were doing. She was missed when she moved to the center of Orleans and will continue to be missed.  She shared so much with those around her.
God bless all of you as you navigate this new stage in your life.  Your mom will always be watching over you….

Peg and I met at The Local at St. Joan of Arc.  Initially, I think that she regarded me as her nemesis.  It was the start of the pandemic and I was the gatekeeper for meal pickup which we were strictly controlling at that time for everyone's safety.  Every week, she argued with me over our requirement to use hand sanitizer.  I started giving her copies of the latest CDC advice.  She was not swayed.  As time went on and we got to know one another, though, our relationship thawed to the point of evolving into a warm friendship.  I came to admire her feistiness and quick wit and her resilience in the face of her many health challenges.  We shared a similar sense of humor, and Peg sometimes brought her wonderful knitted creations to show me.   She'd come early and lean into the pass-through to the kitchen where we were still cooking to chat.  If we had pound cake, we'd set it aside for Peg.   When we lifted our mask restriction, Peg said, "It's great that we don't have to wear these things anymore.  The only problem is that now, I have to put in my teeth before I come."  It was such a Peg thing to say.   She told me about her family - about her daughter of whom she was so proud and showed off her Bucky the Beaver swag from her daughter's job.  The year Peg went to spend the holidays with her daughter and her family, she was giddy with anticipation about her big trip to Texas.  I'll miss, you, dear Peg.  The Local won't be the same without you!

From a neighbor to a dear friend. We wore a path through the trees between our houses and could chat for hours. Her knitting skills were legendary and her easy laughter always resonates in my memory. I was in awe of her scallop shucking skills during those bonanza years. She fought a long and valiant fight against her health issues without complaint.  And we will miss her. 

My mom, my friend. Such wonderful times we shared. Love you mom, you will forever be missed.

I had lunch with Peggy just a few weeks ago at the senior center. She was in good spirits with her trademark sense of humor. Despite her many struggles with health issues, she never lost courage.  Her strength and resilience were amazing.
