Mary Therese Shumway

Mrs. Mary Terese (Talmadge) Shumway was called home to God on Wednesday January 19, 2022. Born in Springfield MA on March 28, 1937, the oldest of five children, Mary was known for her faith in God. She graduated from Cathedral High School and Our Lady of the Elms College, followed by a career working in the parochial schools in Springfield while raising her six children.

Later in life, Mary moved to Eastham MA where she was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes where she sang in the choir and she was a member of the Audubon Society. Mary loved her family fiercely and was a strong role model with an infectious smile.

Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Michael D. Shumway. She was also survived by two of her sisters, Judy Talmadge and Kristen Talmadge, her six children, Ann Marie Griffin, Mark Shumway, Lisa Jaycox, Mary Beth Shumway, Kara Risk and Michael Shumway.

Mary had nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother Michael Talmadge, her sister Janet Talmadge, and most recently, her grandson James Kemple.
