Michael was born on May 15, 1934 in Waterbury CT to Valentino and Lucy Gallicchio. He attended local schools, receiving a degree in accounting from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. After serving his country in the army during the Korean War, Michael married his beloved Marilyn Zubrowski on December 1, 1956. They shared 67 wonderful years together, raising their family in Torrington and Litchfield CT before retiring to Cape Cod and Florida.
Michael spent the majority of his career as an accountant for Ducci Electric, eventually becoming their comptroller until his retirement in 2001.
Michael served his community of Torrington on the Board of Finance, was a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. 374 Elks presiding as their Exalted Ruler in 1974 and continued in the care of the club as trustee until he and Marilyn moved from Connecticut. He belonged to the Lion’s Club serving on many charities throughout his life.
He leaves his spirit to carry on in their hearts, his wife, Marilyn; his daughter Michele Murelli (Donald), his son Michael (Holly), his daughter Marcia Gallicchio, and his daughter Marla Clark (Rick). Michael also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Jonathan Murelli (Cailin), Meredith Murelli, Gabriella Gallicchio, and Michael Gallicchio. His adored Great Grands Rose and Henry Murelli will alway love their Papa.
Michael loved and cherished his nieces and nephews in Connecticut, his cousins in Italy, and his friends at Sea Pines and The Villages.
He believed in family first and always. He was a man of character and strength for all who were lucky enough to know him, was always up for a Ballantine Ale and a good conversation. And despite being a Yankee fan in a family of overwhelming Red Sox fans, he was loved deeply and will be forever missed.
Our family would like to thank the compassionate nurses and therapists of Centerwell Home Health in Lady Lakes, Florida and Cape Cod who gave Michael quality of life these past several months.
Services will be held on a future date in Litchfield CT at the convenience of the family.
