Michael John Mara

Born in Worcester, MA, Michael and his family moved to Centerville where he attended Barnstable High School. As a teen he volunteered as A Big Brother.

After graduation he went to UMass Amherst where he got a BS in Environmental Science.

Michael moved back to the Cape where he again worked with troubled youths at the Forestry Camp in Brewster for a time before becoming a professional custom home builder.

Michael had many interests including music ( He worked for Don Law Music Productions in Boston) Playing hockey, golfing with his buds, skiing, watching sports of all types, and most of all spending time on the water.

Michael and Lisa ( Mead) so enjoyed being with one another that their relationship eventually blossomed into a love affair. They were married on the Bay in 1995. Until he became ill, they enjoyed skiing the world in the winter and spending their time on their boat in the summer.

Michael was known for his unique mustache which he sported until the end.

Michael is survived by his wife and best friend of 38 years, Lisa, his brother Ed and his wife Ellen of Tarpon Springs , FL, his nephew Jeff Mara, his niece Meghan Vitale, and their families.

A Celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
