Michael Richard Preston

Michael Richard Preston passed away peacefully at his home in Brewster, Cape Cod, Massachusetts on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was born to James Bernard and Anita Marie Preston on January 11, 1964, and was raised in the Town of Redding, Connecticut. Mike is survived by both James and Anita Preston, and siblings Deborah Preston Burger, Tom Preston, Steven Preston, and Jimmy Preston. He is also survived by his only daughter Hannah, her husband William Maitrepierre, granddaughter Ezelia Marie, and former spouse and Hannah’s mother Cindy Preston. Surviving nephews and a niece include Luke, Adam, and Jack Preston, Michael and Matthew Burger, and Amanda Preston. Mike is also survived by his Aunt Patti Hagen, her husband Duane, several cousins from the Preston side of the family, former sister-in-law Amy Sullivan Bonacci and former brother-in-law Jonathan Burger.

Michael was a graduate of his hometown high school - Joel Barlow - Class of 1983. A naturally gifted artisan with a passion for the culinary arts found him pursuing his graduate studies at The Culinary Institute of America located in Hyde Park, NY. Mike was blessed to have spent most of his professional career doing what he loved…pleasing anyone fortunate enough to have sat at his table. His true gift - a genuine goodness and kindness that was instantly recognized when in his presence. Mike was as passionate as his laughter was contagious. And will always be remembered by his family and friends for the rarest of qualities…a heart that was bigger than life itself.

A private family service will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans, MA.
