peacefully with a picture of her soul mate, Larry Van Gorder, placed by her bedside, while holding the
hand of her daughter, Marcie. Her passing to her new life was without pain and anguish.
Nancy was the daughter and granddaughter of teachers. Her love of teaching and education was one
of the strongest characteristics of her life and she passed that love to her children and hundreds of
other children in McCandless Pre-School where she taught and led for over two decades.
However, it was her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ that was paramount in her life. She shared her faith
with her soul mate, Larry, her three children, eight grandchildren and the countless people she met
and loved at North Way Christian Community in Wexford PA and Memorial Park Church in McCandless
PA.
Her own father passed away when she was just seven and despite what could have been a difficult life
with a family of three girls and a single mother, who was an elementary teacher, she instead found a
rich life giving herself away to nearly everyone she met. Her gift was found in never thinking of herself
first but pouring out her time and love to others. Perhaps it was because she found everything she
needed herself in her Lord and then her husband that she never seemed to think of herself. Rather
she thought about how she could enrich the lives of those around her. Her life was truly one lived in
faith and love. She will be missed by many but she is now reunited with the love of her life, Larry, who
went to meet the Lord in 2004 and many other friends who went before her.
She is loved and remembered by her son, David Robert Van Gorder, his wife Cindy and their children,
Allyson and Jordan, her son Thomas Edward Van Gorder, his wife Paula and their children, Hayley,
Grant and Hannah and her daughter, Marcie Lynn Leach, her husband Paul and their children,
Meghan, Zach and Colton.
A celebration of her life of faith will be held at North Way Christian Community at 12121 Perry Highway
Wexford PA 15090 on Saturday, 6 October at 11:00 a.m. EDT. The celebration will be followed by a
light lunch and a reception with the family.
Everyone who knew her and was touched by her love and faith is invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to North Way Christian Community where they will be used in
their entirety to fund a village water project in Africa developed by Charity Water,
www.CharityWater.org, where hundreds will receive life-giving nourishment in perpetuity. The Nancy
and Larry Van Gorder water project will stand as a testimony to the love and faith of both of them.
