Nora D. Gaspar

Nora D. Gaspar, wife, mother and friend to so many, passed away early in the morning on June 15th after an extended series of illnesses at the age of 91. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home in Orleans, surrounded by, and in the arms of, her family.

Known for her gentle and caring ways, as well as her boundless compassion towards others, Nora will be dearly missed by all who came to know her.

Nora’s family asks that she be remembered for the love and joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 35 years, Daniel S. Gaspar, and is survived by her children Patricia Bismore of Orleans, MA, Judith and Jeffery Day of East Orleans, Linda and Jonathan Granlund of Eastham MA, and Paul Gaspar of South Portland ME, her beloved grandchildren; Corey, Cody along with his wife Madie, Bella and Spencer.

She joins in eternal rest, her brothers Antone, Richard and Manuel Dias, her twin sister, Cora Arnold, brother’s in-law Charles Gaspar, Frank Arnold and James Macedo, sister in-law Beatrice Perry and her son-in-law Bruce Bismore. Nora is survived by her Brother Gerald Dias with his wife Cecelia, Sister Delores Macedo, sister’s in-law Joan Dias, Anne Dias and Myra Dias along with many nieces and nephews and countless neighbors, friends and acquaintances.

A visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on June 26th at Nickerson’s Funeral Home in Orleans, followed by a Catholic Mass on June 27th at 10am At Saint Joan of Arc Church in Orleans with burial to follow immediately at Orleans Cemetery. A reception will be held back at Saint Joan of Arc following the burial service and the family will receive family and friends there with a light lunch.

Flowers and memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nora’s name to Beacon Hospice, 1060 Falmouth Rd. Suite A, Hyannis, MA 02601. Please make checks out to “The Amedisys Foundation”.
