Born in East Boston, June 20, 1938, Patricia grew up with grit and perseverance, graduating as a RN from Quincy City Hospital in 1959. She joined the Air Force in 1961, leaving to raise her family but continued to work as a nurse at multiple USAF hospitals. Employed at Cape Cod Hospital in the OR for over 2 decades, she re-enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 51. Pat served in the Persian Gulf War on the Naval Medical Ship, USNS Mercy. She was very proud of her military service and was a member of the Brewster VFW # 9917. You would see her marching with other honored veterans during annual Memorial Day and 4th of July parades on the Lower Cape.
She loved musical theatre and performed in several productions at the Academy Playhouse in Orleans. She cherished her theatre family and memories that were made during the shows. Her passion for the arts and music was ever-present throughout her life and she imparted a deep appreciation for music and culture in her children.
Pat loved her family unconditionally, was known for her joyous Christmas celebrations and enjoyed being with her grandchildren as much as she could. She leaves behind the love and admiration of countless dear friends and family members. She will be remembered for her heartwarming smile, great sense of humor, generosity, acts of kindness and her love of animals.
Pat was a devoted mother and friend to 3 loving sons and their wives. Kevin Kew (predeceased) and Ivy Hover of Salem, OR; Ron and Paula Kew, of Manchester, NH; and John and Kerry Kew of Brewster, MA. ”Nona” will also be remembered and cherished fondly by her grandchildren, Madeline and Annie of Manchester, NH and Asa of Brewster, MA. Pat is survived by her sister Ann Marie McLaughlin of Pompano Beach, Florida; brother Billy Kelly of Massachusetts; nephew Marc Foley of Massachusetts; and former spouse James Kew of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Friends and family are invited to visit with Pat’s family at Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans, Friday, April 27th from 10 AM to 12 PM. Pat will be honored and laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
