Patricia Lee Krawiec (née Martin), 86, died peacefully at her home in Suffield, Connecticut, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. In the weeks leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by the love and devoted care of her family.
Patricia, known to most as “Patsy,” was born on August 19, 1939, in Quincy, Massachusetts, to James Martin and Grace Martin (née Jones). Raised near the ocean, she developed a lifelong love of the sea. She later moved to Weymouth, Massachusetts, where she attended school and graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1957.
Shortly after high school, Patsy moved to San Francisco, where she attended classes at San Francisco State University while working at the iconic Gump’s. She later returned east and earned her college degree from Western New England University. Demonstrating her lifelong commitment to learning, she went on to graduate from law school at the age of 56.
In the summer of 1961, Patricia met the love of her life, Theodore Krawiec. She would later say of their meeting, “I took one look at his eyes and knew he was for me.” The two eloped and were married on Nantucket in September of 1963, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion.
She is survived by her devoted husband Ted, her two daughters, Anthea Richardson and Margot Mineau (Kris); her beloved grandchildren, Faith Richardson, Edward Richardson (Shanelle D’Alessio), William Richardson, Emily Anastasiou (Yanni), Garrett Mineau, and Teddy Mineau, her sister Jeanne Suydan, numerous nieces and nephews and her cherished great-granddaughter, Stella Richardson.
Patsy had a curious mind and a fiercely sharp wit. In her younger years, she loved to travel and explore antique shops. A proud Irish woman, she cherished a cozy chair and a good book. She found joy in nature, art, opera, and the music of Willie Nelson. She had a deep love for animals, especially her many dogs, and appreciated all creatures great and small. She was brave, strong-willed, and unwaveringly loyal to those she loved.
Patricia will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
